The first signs of fruit flies may prompt you to clean up your whole house. Donât waste any time and start cleaning up all dirt, spills and mess inside your house. These fruit flies multiply in numbers in such a short time so it is important to get rid of everything that serves as their breeding place.
Getting rid of their breeding place will stop them from increasing their numbers. So make sure you throw away all spoiled fruits, vegetables and any left over foods. Always ensure that your trash has a tight cover and make sure to dispose it often. Clean up everything from any spills and messes and keep all areas of your house clean and dry. Sanitation is the best way to control Fruit flies.
Flies Extermination
When you are able to control the fruit flies and are able to eliminate all their sources of food as well as their breeding places, the next step is to exterminate all fruit flies flying around. You donât have to use any chemicals to exterminate fruit flies.
Bug Zapper
Fruit flies are attracted by light. This bug zapper will do the trick. Turn off all other lights and turn on this bug zapper.
Lemongrass oil spray
Make a solution of lemongrass oil. Ten drops of oil with two ounces of hot water will work well. Spray the house with the solution. This kills not only fruit flies but other insects as well.
Fruit Flies and Banana
Take a slice of banana and put it in a clean bottle. Cover with a plastic wrap and make sure it is sealed. Poke small holes in the plastic. Make the holes big enough for the fruit flies to slip in. place the bottle where you find lots of fruit flies and leave it for a day.
