Fruit fly maybe a problem in every household but getting rid of them should not be too much of a problem. There are many ways to get rid of them. There are natural organic ways of trapping these flies and there are also ways where you can get rid of them easily by using insect spray.
Organic Ways of Trapping Fruit flies
Organic ways include natural methods of trapping the fruit flies by using fresh fruits, cola, beer and other possible ways that would not include chemical insecticides.
The basic ones include vinegar and citrus scented dish washing detergent. The scent of this will attract the flies to the scent and drown them when they land on the vinegar. You should always keep a fresh batch every night so that there is a strong scent.
Another way would be to put food / cola / beer in a jar and closing that jar with a plastic wrap and sealing it with a rubber band. Poke some holes on the plastic wrap to easily trap the fruit fly. Always remember to remove or throw out the batch everyday to avoid breeding a new batch of flies.
Inorganic Way of Getting Rid of Fruit flies
An inorganic way of getting rid of them would be to use some sort of insecticide which kills all insects. Spraying this in your house before you leave will avoid exposure to any chemicals in the product and kill the fruit flies.
Or, you could hire an exterminator if there is already a large infestation in your house. By doing this, you are ensured that the fruit flies will be gone by the time you get home.
Keeping It Clean
Of course, all of this would be fruitless if you do not keep your house clean. Keeping your house clean by throwing away rotten foods, removing crumbs on your table, cleaning under your stove and all the basic needs to avoid breeding fruit flies.
